Ginkgo Bioworks’ Journey with Aptible: Scaling Biosecurity Infrastructure
Ginkgo Bioworks, a leader in synthetic biology and biosecurity, is developing next-generation biosecurity infrastructure to help global leaders predict, detect, characterize, and respond to biological threats. In 2022, Ginkgo acquired two Aptible customers, Concentric (now Ginkgo Biosecurity) and Project Beacon, both of which had relied on Aptible to power their critical infrastructure.
Project Beacon, a Massachusetts-based COVID-19 testing initiative, used Aptible to rapidly scale its infrastructure and deliver high-volume testing across the state. Aptible’s secure, automated platform enabled them to focus on rapid deployment rather than managing infrastructure complexity. Read the full case study.
“It saves many hours a week,” says M. Jackson Wilkinson, Project Beacon’s Chief Technology Officer. “Potentially hundreds of hours of work.”
Recognizing the value Aptible provided, Ginkgo continued using Aptible beyond the acquisition, expanding its role in supporting the company’s growing biosecurity initiatives. Today, Aptible remains a key part of Ginkgo’s infrastructure, enabling them to scale securely and efficiently while advancing the future of biosecurity.
