# MySQL Access Denied

## Cause

This error likely means that your [MySQL](/core-concepts/managed-databases/supported-databases/mysql) client is trying to connect without SSL, but MySQL [Databases](/core-concepts/managed-databases/managing-databases/overview) on Aptible require SSL.
