# Security and Ops Alert Notifications

> Control who in your organization receives operational and security alerts

## Overview

This page covers how Aptible notifies your organization about actions taken on your resources, such as scaling a disk or restarting a database, and how your Account Owners control who receives those notifications.

By default, Aptible sends these security and operational alert notifications to all account owners. If your organization specifies a Security Alert or Ops Alert contact, that person or group will also be added to the corresponding communications.

This page does not cover scheduled [maintenance notifications](https://www.aptible.com/docs/core-concepts/reliability/maintenance.md).

Ops Alert Notifications include, but are not limited to:

* Database disk-space alerts
* Database out-of-memory (OOM) restarts
* Database point-in-time recovery restriction
* App and host disk alerts
* Managed HTTPS certificate-renewal alerts
* Endpoint provision retries
* Instance recovery
* Stack [Outbound IP Addresses](https://www.aptible.com/docs/core-concepts/apps/connecting-to-apps/outbound-ips.md) updates

These are the same SRE actions described in the [Reliability Division of Responsibilities](https://www.aptible.com/docs/core-concepts/reliability/division-of-responsibility.md).

## Who Receives Notifications

By default, all Account Owners are subscribed to Ops Alert and Security Alert notifications. Optionally, you can specify an additional email address, such as a distribution group, for both Ops Alerts and Security Alerts.

## Configure Ops Alert Notifications

> [!NOTE]
>
> Only Account Owners can configure these notifications.

To update Account Owner notifications:

1. In the Aptible Dashboard, go to **Settings** > **Organization Settings**.
2. Under **Organization Notifications** > **Default Notifications**, find the **Notify all Account Owners on Security & Ops Alert emails** toggle.
3. If you choose to disable "Notify all Account Owners on Security & Ops Alert emails", you must add an email address for both the Ops Alert Notification Email and the Security Alert Notification Email settings.
4. Select **Save Changes**.

> [!WARNING]
>
> You cannot disable Account Owner notifications without entering a valid email for the Ops Alert Notification Email and Security Alert Notification fields.
